Bu çalışma, dijital platformların bireylerin duygularını nasıl veri haline dönüştürdüğünü ve bu verilerin ekonomik sistem içerisinde nasıl bir değere sahip olduğunu incelemektedir. Çalışmanın temel odağını, “affektif kapitalizm” kavramı çerçevesinde dijital ekonominin duygular üzerindeki dönüştürücü etkisi oluşturmaktadır. Günümüzde sosyal medya platformları, kullanıcıların beğeni, yorum, paylaşım ve etkileşim gibi davranışlarını yalnızca iletişimsel faaliyetler olarak değil; aynı zamanda ekonomik olarak işlenebilir veri birimleri olarak değerlendirmektedir. Böylece bireylerin korku, mutluluk, öfke, kaygı ve aidiyet gibi duygusal tepkileri algoritmalar aracılığıyla ölçülmekte, analiz edilmekte ve yönlendirilmektedir. Makale, dijital platformların kullanıcı davranışlarını sürekli takip ederek duyguları görünür, ölçülebilir ve pazarlanabilir hale getirdiğini savunmaktadır. Bu bağlamda duygular, bireysel ve öznel deneyimler olmaktan çıkarak metalaştırılmış unsurlara dönüşmektedir. Çalışmada ayrıca dijital platformların dikkat ekonomisi içerisinde kullanıcıların duygusal yoğunluklarını artırarak etkileşim üretmeye çalıştığı ve bunun bireyin psikolojik otonomisi üzerinde etkiler oluşturduğu tartışılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak araştırma, dijital kapitalizmin yalnızca kullanıcı davranışlarını değil, aynı zamanda duygusal süreçleri de ekonomik üretim mekanizmasının bir parçası haline getirdiğini ileri sürmektedir. Böylece dijital çağda duyguların yalnızca ifade edilmediği; aynı zamanda üretildiği, yönlendirildiği ve tüketildiği yeni bir ekonomik ve kültürel yapı ortaya çıkmaktadır.
